Hot New Resource That Could Save Your Life - Jott.com

… Or at least make it a little better.

I don’t usually do quick recommendation posts like this one, but I think you will agree that this is worth a look.

Jott is a new service that allows you to use your cell phone like a voice recorder - but MUCH more handy. Here’s how it works.

Once you create you Jott account, you set the toll free Jott number in your speed dials.  Now, you’re riding down the road and get an idea.  Here’s what you do (instead of crashing into the car in front of you while trying to write it down):

    1. You speed dial Jott and tell the system where to send the message you are about to record (i.e. “myself”)
    2. You record your thought.  After a short pause, Jott will say “got it.”
    3. You end the call.
    4. In your email inbox, you will find your TRANSCRIBED message along with a link to the actual audio file of your recording.

You can import your contacts (or create them as you see fit) and email Jotts to your contact list.

Yes, there is some urgency to this message - unlike CopyTalk, a similar service that costs $60/month on your cell phone bill, Jott is FREE. It is now in its public beta test, so I suggest signing up immediately if this functionality appeals to you at all.

As you are signing up, consider the viral properties of this new service. I expect that it will spread like wildfire.

    Happy Jotting…

I don’t need this function, but can see how it would be useful to many people. Thanks for passing this along.

very cool - way easier than fiddling through the 57 steps it takes to use my cell phone’s voice recorder…

      thanks for the head’s up!
